BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series

The Aquatic Super Series will take place in Perth in early 2015 - the dates are yet to be confirmed. The Aquatic Super Series covers two types of swimming events: water polo and swimming. If you are planning on attending, make sure you book your Perth holiday rentals early to avoid disappointment.

Venue History

This year's Aquatic Super Series takes place at Challenge Stadium in Perth. This stadium is the only place where two FINA World Championships have taken place: in 1991 and in 1998. In 1991, three Australian athletes took gold medals at the FINA World Championships. Additionally, Kieren Perkins took silver in the 1500 meter freestyle that year. At 1998's FINA World Championships, Australia waltzed away with seven gold medals total.

The upcoming 2015 Aquatic Super Series brings international, talented athletes to the pool competing for glory.

With a history of strong performance in Olympic swimming, the Australia swim team brings strength and experience to the water. Between 2004's Olympic games in Athens and 2008's games in Beijing, this fantastic team brought home 13 gold medals. Combine those with the plethora of Commonwealth Games medals, broken world records, and world championships, and this team is the one to beat.

Water Polo

The Australia women's polo team is a formidable opponent and will take on two different opponents during the Aquatic Super Series. While the opposing teams have not been determined, the matches will surely be exciting. With an Olympic medal from the 2000 Sydney Olympics and two medals from FINA World Championships, this team is one of the top teams in the world.

Open Water Swim Challenge

One of the most thrilling events of the Aquatic Super Series is the Open Water Swim Challenge where anyone can swim and compete with Australia's premier swimmers. Multiple events and distances slated for swimmers include 500 m, 1 km, 5 km, and 10 km. Substantial cash and prizes will be awarded after each event.

Get Involved

Visitors not interested in swimming against world-class athletes but with a desire to be close to the action can volunteer for the series or financially sponsor the event. Anyone can volunteering, no matter their aquatic experience. Whether volunteers are swimmers, water polo enthusiasts, or students seeking volunteer experience, there will surely be a way to help out.

The series offers many opportunities for businesses and organisation involvement across the entire platform of the event. Specialised packages with emphasis on swimming, open water event, water polo, or regional events offer a chance to engage at all levels of Australian aquatics from the elite teams to down-home support.

Visiting Perth

While in Perth for the Super Series, why not stay for a long holiday and get to know the area?
