Top Things to Do in Dunsborough

The seaside town of Dunsborough lies on the western coast of Australia. Overlooking the Geographe Bay, the town is full of sheltered coves, surfing and swimming spots and walking trails where you can watch a pod of dolphins as they play in the clear water. With so much to offer, from boutique stores to eating joints to water activities, the town has become a popular destination for family holidays. The town also houses a range of holiday accommodation and holiday rentals for people travelling alone or in groups.

Visit the Margaret River

When travelling with family, especially young kids, the first place to visit is the Margaret River Chocolate Factory. Nestled between Dunsborough and the Margaret River, they also offer free chocolate tasting to guests. Here you can also buy the perfect souvenirs for friends back home, with plenty of chocolates to choose from such as handmade truffles, chocolate bars and chocolate coated delights.

The Blackwood River is also a favourable place if you are looking forward to swimming or kayaking.

Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse

This charming lighthouse has a history of over 100 years. Built from stone that was quarried from the Bunker Bay, the lighthouse is a popular tourist attraction. There are a couple of whale watching spots and even a seal colony near the lighthouse that cannot be missed. If you are planning to visit Dunsborough during spring, then you would enjoy the walk trails for wildflower viewing.

Flying, Sky Diving and Surfing

One of the best ways to enjoy this coastal region is from the air. Get on a flight to Yallingup, Margaret River or Walpole and take in the enormous natural beauty below you. If you have an adventurous streak, you can enjoy sky diving as well. The Southern Skydivers based in Busselton provide sky diving facilities.

The region of Dunsborough is favoured for its surfing beaches as well. If you are a novice, why not try the Yallingup Surf School where you can learn the nuances of surfing.

Visit Wineries and Breweries

In Dunsborough, you can experience a taste of royal charm as you are driven around in a classic Rolls Royce, or while tasting some fine-tasting wine. The Cape Classic Touring Company and the Wine Tour Company are popular for their winery tours and you can savour a variety of wines such as Chardonnay, Semillon, Cabernet, or Merlot. If beer is what appeals to you more than wine, then you will definitely enjoy the locally brewed variety at the Bootleg Brewery and the Wicked Ale Brewery.
