The first thing that impressed us as weary travelers in a foreign country was how easy it was finding our way to this charming guesthouse. Set in the beautiful township of St-Jean-du-Cardonnay, 10 minutes away from the awesome city of Rouen, we could finally relax and take in the breathtaking surroundings.
We were met by friendly Christine who welcomed in her broken English and felt instantly at home. She showed us maps and gave us lots of information about the area, which was wonderful. She, he husband Ivan (a well known artist) and English speaking son Antionne were wonderful hosts throughout our stay.
The guesthouse is set in the garden near the main house, so if we required anything, we were simply able to call on Christine. She even had a piano which our daughter played for hours! While we were unable to do our own laundry, Christine did it for us for a small fee.
The cottage itself is like a gallery, filled with Ivan's amazing artwork. Also,an ipad was set up with spotify and there was an impressive collection of DVDs.
Overall, is one of our most pleasant stays in Europe and we would thoroughly recommend staying there.
This house was spacious, extremely clean and had everything a traveller could want. The owners lived not far away, but after showing us around the house advised they were available for anything we may need, and we only saw them once again. We did not need to contact them as everything was perfect. We were even given vegetables from their own garden. We would highly recommend this house to anyone (and have done so already to some friends). The access was perfect, and if you are unable to use stairs, this is not a problem as there is a perfectly good bedroom and en suite downstairs. We had a thoroughly enjoyable and peaceful time staying there and we hope we may return some day.
